Merry Christmas
I hope you have a lovely day!
FuzstarPetite xx

As well as the Carolina Alvo Kathleen Dress I also received the "petite is powerful" t-shirt.  A useful reminder for those days were I am feeling more petite than powerful :-)

Recently, I tried a totally new shopping experience.....Kickstarter.

If you have never heard of Kickstarter, it gives individuals the chance to pitch their ideas to the public, a bit like an internet version of dragons den. This gives you access to unique and limited edition items while supporting individuals to reach their dreams. For more details and information on how it works click on the Kickstarter link above.

Anyway onto the good stuff.....It was a normal day in the FSP household.  I was going about my usual business of researching petite brands and I came across Carolina Alvo on Kickstarter.  She was advertising the perfect petite dress (the Kathleen dress in black onyx or ivory) so of course this got my attention and I had to take a closer look.

There are three amazing reasons why this is The Perfect Petite Dress:

1) It was made by a petite for petites - This dress was created with the fit and style of a petite women in mind.

2) The proportions are adjusted not just shortened.  The dress was designed on a petite fit model to ensure an optimal fit and is available in US size 00 - 14.  I got size 4.

3) The dress is offered in two hem lengths - one for those over 5"1 and one for those under 5"1 so there is no need for any alterations.  This recognises that a petite lady of 4"10 needs a different length to one who is 5"3. I'm 4"9 so I got the under 5"1 version.

So what's not to LOVE about this very special dress??

It was my birthday last week so I went for a family meal at The Fox in Menston near Ilkley.
I thought I would share my birthday outfit with you. This included two new items from Banana Republic petite.

1) Boiled Wool Moto Jacket  I was in London last weekend and BR had a promotion called "walk in and win" where I was given a card for 25% off any purchase.  As I have wanted this jacket for such a long time plus I had some extra birthday money - thanks to my lovely family :-), I thought I had to go for it. Verdict - I love it!!

2) Textured Cropped Turtleneck - BR sent me £20 off any purchase as it was my birthday plus they had a £10 sweater offer on so this helped to persuade me to try a turtleneck (something I haven't worn for years).  Verdict: Lovely soft fabric that is not itchy and I thought it goes rather well with the jacket.

Other items i'm wearing:

Earrings: Talullah Tu mini bow pearl drop stud earrings

Bag: Pink Leather bag from Tula (old)
Jeans: Levis Demi Curve Mid Rise Skinny (I got the length altered in store)
Shoes: Office Cecilia silver - these come is loads of different colours

Its that time of year again..... shopping for new boots, a scarf, gloves and of course the perfect winter coat.

Today, I thought I would share my journey to my perfect petite winter coat.  Here are some of the coats I tried on and finally the coat I decided would be my winter coat for this year.

So let's begin......

Topshop Petite £89
Pros: Soft blue colour and fabric.
Cons: I felt I wouldn't be able to wear this for work.

New Look Petite £54.99 now in the sale for £41.99
Pros: That I found out New Look do a petite range.
Cons: Slightly too small for me would have needed the size up and quality of the fabric was poor. The internet picture didn't show that the fabric has sparkly flecks.
CC petite £189
Pros: Lovely waffle fabric, collar and waist belt.
Cons: The shade is actually more candy floss pink than pastel pink.

Wallis Petite £65 now in the sale for £45.50
Pros: Lovely bright red colour.
Cons: No waist belt to enhance shape and the funnel neck was uncomfortable.

Dorothy Perkins Petite £59
Pros: Berry colour and removable fur collar.
Cons: Slightly too tight across the chest area even in size up.
Dorothy Perkins Petite £49
Pros: Berry colour and waist belt.
Cons: Waist belt did not add any shape.

Banana Republic Petite £110
Pros: Collar shape, pocket detail and quality of the fabric.
Cons: Too short for really cold winter days.

Marks and Spencer Petite £89
Pros: Available in three colours.
Cons: Poor fabric quality for the price of the coat.

BHS Petite Collection £50 now in the sale for £35
Pros: Waist belt and side zip.
Cons: Fabric was very thin so I didn't think it would keep me warm enough.

And finally......

The coat I purchased was BHS Petite Collection £69 now in the sale for £55.20
Pros: Lovely soft fabric with gentle checked pattern, collar and waist belt
Cons: It is perfect for me in every way!! :-)

Have you found your perfect winter coat yet?

I am a petite lady of 4"9 and I have just been looking at some dresses in your petite section.  I was shocked to see that you have a model of 5"8 showing the clothes for petite ladies of 5"3 and under.  I have enough trouble finding petite ladies clothes hence why I was looking at your selection but it just seems ridiculous to have a tall lady advertising petite ladies clothes.  It would be helpful and make it easier to decide whether to make a purchase, to have some petite models and their height details so we can get a better idea of how the items would actually look.

I am the owner of a new petite ladies blog (fuzstarpetite) and I am always looking for clothes that fit my height as sometimes even petite clothes are too long in length for me.  It is really important to me that I look at the measurements and lengths of clothes before buying anything.

I hope you understand this and that you will work towards developing and improving your petite range.  Put it this way you wouldn't put the size 3 shoes on the top shelf and the size 8's on the bottom shelf.... or would you?

I received a little treat from Mr FSP this evening.....a delivery from Boden petite.

Easy T-shirt dress, navy/freshwater, size 8 petite reduced from £39.20 to £24.50. The length fell just above my knee so is perfect for under 5 foot petites.  I love the style of the dress and the gorgeous soft fabric so this one is a keeper.

Modern pencil skirt. multi stripe, size 8 petite reduced from £47.20 to £17.70. I love the pattern, fabric and colours of this skirt but unfortunately the length fell below my knee so was too long for me but it would be lovely for over 5 foot petite lady.

My next mission is a petite winter wedding outfit...Any ideas?
It's been two weeks since my last post so I thought I would give you a quick round up of a few little things that I have been loving during that time....

Russell Hobbs Buckingham Kettle (A Which best buy) from Argos £40. Super quiet kettle that boils a cup of water in less than 45 seconds! Anything that helps me get my cup of tea quicker is a winner with me.

Thane H20 X5 upright steamer. On offer in store at B&Q for £50 from £80. After using this for a few days I can see where the term obsessive compulsive cleaner comes from.

ESR Animal Kingdom series for Iphone 5c from Amazon for £6.99. What can I cute is this. If you like this, you should check out the Giraffe print one too!
Miele S2111 Vacuum Cleaner  (A Which best buy) from Debenhams. It says sold out on the website but we got ours in store for £120 reduced from £150. Alternatively you can get this from Amazon.
Clinique CC moisture surge cream SPF 30 £28. This really helps to make my skin smooth and glowing. Plus it must be good as I'm finding I don't need to apply as much foundation after using this. It's worth popping to your nearest Clinique counter to make sure you pick the perfect shade for your skin.

What have you been loving over the last couple of weeks?

As this would be my first ever trench coat purchase after years of poorly fitting coats, I was determined to only purchase a coat that fit me perfectly.  I saw this trench originally at Banana Republic at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.  It was quite funny actually, as I walked in the store I was informed by the sales assistant that the petite section was downstairs.  Good observation skills my man!!  I cant complain, it was better service than I usually get in stores.  I was informed by the Sales Assistant that this is the only Banana Republic store in the North of England and it is worth a look if you are near by.  Anyway back to the coat....... I loved the coat in the store but I had already ordered a navy blue trench (2nd picture down) from Gap "petite" (more about that later) so I left it behind and thought I would wait and see what the Gap one was like first.

Well the Gap coat arrived and was promptly returned as it was nowhere near "under 5ft" friendly (not what Gap claimed but what I am aiming for).  It was too large in the shoulders, sleeves and just looked way too big on me (sorry I haven't got any pics of me wearing the Gap one).  Its strange as Gap and Banana Republic are the same company so I'm not sure why the sizing is so different between them.

I decided to go for the Banana Republic trench - it helped that BR online had a £20 discount code and free delivery at the time.  The length is 32" and this one is dry clean only.  There are lots of gorgeous details on the coat which makes it feel much more luxurious than the Gap coat (and it will take you at least 10 minutes to do up all the buttons!!!).

So what do you think???

Have you tried any Gap or Banana Republic petite items?
I received my very first (and not my last!) Boden order yesterday.   As I haven't ordered anything from Boden before I wasn't sure what the petite sizing was like.  However, the product descriptions were very helpful as they stated the lengths and measurements for each item.

I ordered two petite dresses and two pairs of petite trousers from the clearance section which states that items are up to 80% off:

Flowershow dress china blue dotty spot reduced from £99 to £19.80.

This didn't fit me well at all and the best way to describe it is that I looked like I'd just put on 10 pounds.  I didn't feel this was "under 5 foot" petite friendly as it was way too long and drowned my frame.  The pattern, fabric and price are perfect plus it is machine washable so I wish that it looked better on me.

Sixties Ponte Dress Ivory/navy strip reduced from £79 to £15.80

This dress on the other hand was just perfect.  Mr FSP even said it was as though it had been designed for me.  The length finished just above the knee and it is machine washable. This one is definitely a keeper and I will post some pictures of me wearing it as soon as I can.

Bistro Crop Trouser Neutral Bud reduced from £69 to £11.80 (length 23.5 inches)

Straight away I loved the pattern on these trousers.  I was surprised to see that these are machine washable, as I read on the product description they were dry clean only, so this was a definite plus point.  They finished just above the ankle, perfect for showing off some fancy heels.  I wore these to work today with a red long sleeved top and received so many compliments.

Bistro Crop Trousers Metallic Jacquard reduced from £69 to £17.80 (length 23.5 inches)

I really liked the pattern and colour of these trousers but the material felt quite stiff and scratchy.  The length was perfect just above the ankle, but they seemed to pull around my hips so didn't look as good on as the other pair. Even though these trousers are a bargain they are dry clean only, so take the cleaning costs into consideration

So overall I found shopping at Boden a really lovely experience and I will buy more items from there in the future.  As with most petite sizes, its worth trying a few things on to make sure they are perfect for you.  Boden offers free returns which helps you with this. The order was delivered in a lovely spotty box and the clothes were wrapped in gorgeous spotty boden paper. As a thank you for my order they included a boden notepad. Just lovely!

Have you tried anything from Boden? What are you top picks?

The Body Shop is not somewhere I shop regularly but I popped in this lunch time to pick up three Paula's Choice "best" rated products:

All-in-One Cheek Colour (shade flushed) £8
Aloe Gentle Facial Wash (for sensitive skin) £8.50
Camomile Gentle Eye Make Up Remover (for all skin types) £8

There was a 3 for 2 offer on (the cheapest item is free) and I used my body shop "Love your body" card so I got a further 10% off.  It cost just under £15 for all three products.  Not bad for three best rated products.

When researching beauty products, I often refer to Paula's Choice Beautypedia for product reviews.  I particularly like the pros and cons section.  All the reviews state whether the product has been tested on animals which is great if this is important to you.  As this is a US site most of the products are available in America however all the big brands you would expect in the UK including No7 and Boots are included.  You can search by product category, "best" products, by brand and by product name.   Products are rated poor, average and good. Only the top performing products meeting a strict criteria receive the "best" rating.  There are reviews for everything from shower gel to eyeliner so it's worth having a look before your next beauty spree.

I will write a follow up post once I have tested the products to let you know how they perform.

Have you tried any of The Body Shop "best" rated products?

Are you a fellow follower of Paula's Choice?
